HiFIT - an innovative high frequency peening tool to increase fatigue strength of welded steel structures

HiFIT (High Frequency Impact Treatment)

is a high frequency peening method to increase the fatigue strength of existing and new welded steel structures.

The trade name HiFIT stands for an integrated concept with
  numerical analysing tools,
  tools for the post welding treatment and
  consulting
for an efficient increase of the fatigue resistance of existing and new welded structures.

The efficiency of this post welding treatment is proven by qualitative and quantitative analyses within the research project REFRESH by extensive fatigue tests at the TU Braunschweig and the university of Karlsruhe.

Effects limiting the fatigue strength will be dismantled by local plastic deformations, deburring geometrical chamfers and injecting compressive residual stress.

Experimental series show the highly increased fatigue strength and life time especially for high cycle fatigue.

An exclusive worldwide distribution agreement has been granted to PFEIFER.
